As well as text, DOCX files can include pictures, tables, charts and embedded media, or can be an editable template. Microsoft Word is used widely in homes, workplaces and educational settings to create formatted text documents like reports, letters or resumes. The DOCX format has been the standard format for Microsoft Word documents since 2007, replacing DOC. To share PAGES files with Windows and Android users, it’s advisable to export the file from the Pages application in a more widely supported format, such as PDF, DOCX, or TXT. However, it’s more difficult to open and view PAGES files on non-Apple devices, as it’s not possible to open PAGES documents in Word, or with other programs like LibreOffice, without converting the file to another format first. The Apple Pages application is installed for free as standard on every Apple device, including on iPhones and iPads, as well as on Macs. PAGES also has features that can read handwriting or transcribe spoken dictation. These templates can help you create different styles of content, such as reports, resumes, posters or letters. PAGES files can be created from a blank document or can be customised based on a template, and Apple offers several types of templates within the application itself. You would use Pages to create formatted text documents (like in Microsoft Word), and these documents can contain text, tables, images, charts and more. Use the option(menu) key on your keyboard, or click your secondary mouse button (usually the right button on a right-handed mouse). You can use the option menu in Pages desktop view to 'Download a Copy. I just found that as a shortcut, you don't have to open the document in Pages. I found that DOCX format gave a more faithful copy than PDF. I tried with a short sample Pages document and LibreOffice 4.4. With LibreOffice, navigate to your downloads folder and open the document.Export as PDF or as Microsoft Word (.DOCX).Select the tools menu (a spanner/wrench icon in the top right of the screen).In a new browser tab, it shows you a word processor interface to your document.Double-click the icon for your uploaded document.It shows you an editable version of your document in a kind of file manager view Drag your Pages document onto your browser.I am not sure what this means, but you probably need to accept this to be able to open Pages.) ![]() (It also may ask you to upgrade to iCloud Drive. If you don't have access to an Apple operating system, use Apple's no-cost 'in-browser' version of Pages to export it in a format that you can open with LibreOffice. ![]()
